Healthcare is being transformed by deep learning - join us for a special panel of experts and how they use DL in healthcare.

Abstract:
Every day, inspiring research and innovative startups are driving quality improvements. as deep learning is being leveraged to both train computers on what we know today as well as help us discover new knowledge.

This transformation is most apparent in medical imaging where deep learning is dominating the research presented at conferences such as the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (MICCAI), the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE) and IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI).

What we'll focus on?
This event will delve into how deep learning is changing healthcare. You will learn how these new capabilities have the ability to augment radiologists in the clinic, and hear discussions on. the differences and commonalities between medical images and natural images. Finally, we will provide an update on the latest platforms commonly used for deep learning in medical imaging.

Bios of speakers:

Dr. Abdul Hamid Halabi - Abdul Hamid Halabi is responsible for driving NVIDIA’s growth and innovation strategies across the healthcare ecosystem. He partners with thought leaders and world-class organizations to transform healthcare through the application of deep learning. Prior to this role, Abdul served in leadership positions within NVIDIA’s engineering department.
An accomplished speaker, Abdul earned his Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Toronto, and an MBA degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in management science and engineering from Stanford University, where he is currently a Ph.D. candidate focusing on the field of Decision Analysis.

Dr. Ron Summers - Ronald M. Summers received the B.A. degree in physics and the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in Medicine/Anatomy & Cell Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently Chief of the Clinical Image Processing Service and directs the Imaging Biomarkers and Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) Laboratory. He has co-authored over 300 journal, review and conference proceedings articles and is a coinventor on 12 patents. An avid mentor, he has supervised over 80 trainees.

Dr. Colin Compas - Colin Compas is a Senior Solutions Architect at NVIDIA focusing on deep learning solutions for healthcare. His background is in medical image analysis where he has worked to develop automated methods for anomaly detection in clinical decision support. Prior to joining NVIDIA, Colin worked to bring cognitive solutions to radiologists and cardiologists as a part of IBM Research. His work at IBM was incorporated into the first products launched through IBM Watson Health Imaging. Colin received his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Yale University focusing on quantification of cardiac function in echocardiography. His work has resulted in over 25 journal and conference publications.

Hoo Chang Shin: Hoo Chang Shin is a Solutions Architect at NVIDIA. He has a Ph.D. degree from the University of London, engineering degrees from Technical University of Munich and Sogang University. Previously he has worked at the National Institutes of Health as a postdoctoral research fellow, at BMW and Audi as a student researcher and intern.
