Data Engineering Melbourne Meetup April 2020

Details

Let's do some more data engineering talks, networking and knowledge sharing!

Speaker:Jim Dowling
Topic: Hopswork Data-Intensive Machine Learning with a Feature Store

Hopsworks is an open-source platform for developing and operating machine learning models at scale that is now available as a managed platform on AWS at www.hopsworks.ai. Hopsworks includes the industry's first Feature Store for machine learning that is usable as a stand-alone system from Databricks, Sagemaker, Kubeflow and other ML platforms. This talk will introduce some of the new ML infrastructure trends that are enabling faster lower cost deployment of models: the Feature Store to manage and share features across organizations, feature engineering and training pipelines - including using notebooks in ML pipelines, provenance and reproducability for ML pipelines, and automated monitoring of models in production.

About Jim:
Jim Dowling is CEO of Logical Clocks and an Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He is lead architect of the open-source Hopsworks platform, a horizontally scalable data platform for machine learning that includes the industry’s first Feature Store.

Message to the Audience:

We will also have time after the talk(s) for a community noticeboard where folks will have around 60 seconds to pitch their wares - if you've got an awesome data job going or you are available to fill an awesome job or even that you've found a great open source tool that we should all be contributing to, this will be the time to let us know!

Future Talks:

Let us know if you've got something to talk about for the future meetups. Talks can run anywhere from 5-30 min. All skill levels welcome to present something - just about everything is new to someone!
