Dr Ram Mohan: Machine learning for Efficient food delivery

Summary:

Bio: Ram Mohan, Senior Data Scientist at Just Eat.

• Graduated in Electronics engineering and received doctorate in “Mathematical morphology in machine learning for automation.” In 2004

• Has been working in machine learning and automation for more than 10 years.

• Currently working on order volume prediction, optimised driver allocation for efficient utilisation of resources.

• In the previous role, used machine learning to automate all the manual work involved in sorting diamonds, predicting demand, separating synthetic diamonds from natural ones leading to displacement of more than thousand human sorters

Dan Cook: Real time Data Pipelines with Kafka and Spark

Summary: A wide variety of use cases such as banking, cyber threat detection, e-commerce and IoT require real time processing in the order of hundreds of thousands per second. This talk details how to build a platform at that scale while maintaining resilience and availability guarantees.

Bio: Dan is a Technical Architect and Developer. He has led the development of the UK Hydrographic Office’s Hadoop-as-a-Service offering, built software streaming frameworks long before the rise of Spark and Storm and worked on a cyber threat detection platform for BT.
