The Epidemiology of COVID-19 with Prof dr. Niel Hens
Details
Prof dr. Niel Hens is a member of the GEES, the expert group that is assigned to guide us out of the COVID-19 crisis. He is also a biostatistician at UHassselt and UAntwerp, and is one of the spokesmen for SIMID, a project started in 2006 to further develop the capacity in infectious disease modelling in Flanders.
In this lunch session, Prof dr. Hens will dive into the epidemiological model that he and his team created for COVID-19 in Belgium. This model describes the spread of the virus and predicts its evolution based on different scenarios such as setting up Contact Tracing and introducing Bubbles.
This is scientific talk with the purpose of learning more about COVID-19 disease modelling and getting a glimpse behind the scenes of the scientific work in the GEES. This is not a political discussion and we ask people who join to focus on the data science aspects of COVID-19 when asking questions.
