Do you work in marketing, sales, PR, HR, recruiting, or non-IT capacity?

No

Are you based in London or travel to London monthly?

No

Are you direclty involved in a data science project? Are you doing any data science hacking, development, implementation? Are you a quant? Data miner? Statistician? Software developer? IT engineer? BI Analyst?

Software developer with experience in BI analytics using open source engines like mondrian with keen interest to expand my understanding in big data and mining. I've played with tools like WEKA for mining, but not in great depth.

Why are you interested in joining this data science community?

I'm primarily a software developer, who has worked in different languages like C, Python, Java, Javascript and recently Haskell. I realized working with all these languages, that the software I build with any language is only the infrastructure I build for the data to flow through and that has always had an impact in me. I've worked with BI analytics tools and played with analytical engines like mondrian which powers Pentaho. The whole lot of complexity in solving big data problems, machine learning and building prediction algorithms based on mined data has always fascinated me. I reckon even if I'm not working with data geeks, if I'm around them outside work then there is a good chance to share and grow in this area.

Introduction

Orchestrator of flow of electrons using various open source technologies, interested in big data, data analytics, real time analytics, data mining and developing prediction algorithms.
