Health IT Mobile (http://csrc.nist.gov/nccoe/Projects/Health-IT.html)

Established in 2012 through a partnership between NIST, the State of Maryland and Montgomery County, the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) is dedicated to furthering innovation through the rapid identification, integration and adoption of practical cybersecurity solutions. The NCCoE’s first use case within the Secure Exchange of Electronic Health Information Demonstration Project focuses on securely exchanging information through the use of mobile devices. Gavin will speak on the NCCoE’s process for developing practical cyber solutions and status of the Health IT Mobile Device Use Case.

Securing the Data

Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies around the county are presented with a set of unique opportunities and challenges regarding data and new technology. HHS in Montgomery County must face a growing, diverse population with a constrained budget. New technologies and data analysis capabilities have empowered service workers to operate with more mobility. However, securing that data to comply with federal laws and other mandates requires caution. Uma will speak on the technology challenges facing her department in the coming years and the opportunities she sees for improved analytics.
