How do you make a DataScientist?

Details

There is a worldwide shortage of good datascientists. Yet there are graduates from computer science, statistics and maths - even PhDs who struggle to find good Datascience jobs. One woman set out to change this - Kim Nilsson.

Communication and Team-building 101
for Scientists, Analysts and EngineersKim Nilsson - Pivigo

Pivigo is a company with a mission to create DataScientists. They run Science to DataScience (S2DS) - a six week workshop to train analytical PhDs and scientists in the commercial tools and techniques needed to be hired into data science roles.

First we hear from Kim on what inspired her, her vision and how she made it work. Then Steve Gardner from ROW Analytics will talk about their experience with S2DS and onboarding academics. Find out how it works, how and what they learn and how you can get involved.

I'd be keen to follow this with a general discussion on routes into datascience, not only from academic disciplines but from programming, database management, analytics etc.

Please note - we are running this as a double header with a Microsoft Deepdive on Azure ML, so we intend to run to time - 6:30 start, aiming to finish by 7:30.
