  1. "Solving Image Recognition Problems using Microsoft Cognitive Services and Cognitive Toolkit", Dmitry Soshnikov

In this talk, I will talk about several real-life projects related to image classification or image detection, and how Microsoft technologies helped us to solve those problems. We will cover simple Cognitive Services, which can be used by software developers without any AI background, as well as CNTK neural network framework and neural network training at scale using Azure Batch AI. The talk would be useful for both general software developers as well as data scientists.

Dmitry Soshnikov, a Microsoft technology evangelist, specializes in the field of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, development of universal Windows applications, .NET platform (F #, Roslyn).
He likes to tell and think on how modern technologies radically transform business and our life as a whole, as well as the unlimited possibilities that technology gives to youth technological entrepreneurship. Personally held several dozen hakatons all over Russia, helped many student start-ups start their projects in various fields. He is an ideological curator of the Imagine Cup student projects competition in Russia. Participated in technological projects on the introduction of modern technologies of AI, chat bots and the Internet of things in a number of companies. Associate Professor, Ph.D., delivered courses and conducts classes at MIPT, HSE and MAI (courses "Functional and logical programming", "Artificial Intelligence").
Author of a number of online courses on the platforms Microsoft Virtual Academy and Intuit.ru, the course "Chat-bots and modern applied artificial intelligence" for Coursera is being prepared for publication. He has more than 60 scientific publications.
Dmitry is a member of the Russian Association of Artificial Intelligence and the F # Software Foundation. In summer, he is the leader of the computer technologies department of the UNIO-R children's camp and Just Dilijan IT. In his spare time he is fond of amateur electronics and make-up, technological magic and digital art, holds Chinese tea ceremonies gu fu cha.

  1. "Conversational AI: Handling your user's small talk and conversational chatter using natural language processing models", Alyssa Ong

Ever have issues handling all the random chatter users throw at your bot? Such as "How are you?", "Tell me a joke", "Are you a bot?" Handling all of these is challenging for bot builders but it gives another dimension of personality to your bot and significantly improves the experience. In this session, we will explore different techniques to build and train NLP models to handle freestyle conversation.

Alyssa is a Software Engineer and Evangelist for Conversational AI and Machine Learning based in Microsoft’s Asia Pacific team. Featured in VentureBeat as one of the top 100 people to watch in the chatbot space, she has extensive experience coding with enterprises and startups across Asia and bringing their AI related projects to life.
