Mastering Data Science Engineering

Details

Hi All,

We excited to invite you to another informative and coding Saturday morning. This time, we will work with Docker, Docker Compose and Dash.
This will be a hands-on event, therefore you will need to bring your laptop.

Agenda:

9:30 - 10:15 Introduction to containerizing applications using Docker by Sahil

10:15 - 11:30 Networking

10:30 - 11:45 How to use Docker Compose to containerize data processing applications by Enrico

11:45 - 12:00 Networking

12:00 - 12:55 Dash - interactive visualizations by Ben

Descriptions:

Docker : This workshop will introduce concept of containerization (using Docker). It will cover basics of creating, running and updating Docker images with a hands on Jupyter-Notebook application.

Docker Compose : For this project, we are going to use Docker Compose to glue together a basic real-time Data Processing Pipeline using free and OpenSource software: Python, Kafka, PostgreSQL and Apache Superset.

It's the a port to a dockerised and open source version of the work done in the last few months by Sahil Dadia (he was using AWS services) in a series of workshops presented at the Data Science and Engineering Club.

Dash : We will make an interactive analytics app using Dash. Dash is a python framework built developed by plotly, flask and react. We will make graphs with sliders, drop downs and other UI elements.

Bio:

Sahil Dadia (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sahil-dadia) holds a Masters in Data Science and Analytics from Maynooth University. He works with Python, R, AWS, Apache Spark in the Linux environment. Previously, he developed computer vision software for self-driving cars at Swaayatt Robots.

Enrico Marchesin is a Senior Software Engineer at Cainthus, trying to keep cows happy with the help of Machine Learning and Computer Vision.

Benjamin Suarez (https://t.co/vmC8WqCU4D) holds a masters in biochemistry from NUI Galway and has done research in the cancer field. Using machine learning, he has developed analytical pipelines to reveal new insights into breast cancer.
