The Speaker:
For this event we'll be hosting Information designer and artist Giorgia Lupi, whose book Dear Data is a must-read for data storytellers. She's given a TED Talk, co-founded Accurat, exhibited at MoMA (and had Dear Data acquired into their permanent collection), and just joined MIT Media Lab as a fellow. Basically she's a data rockstar, and the team at The Pudding has been eager host an event with her.
ps. she also just released a new book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Observe-Collect-Draw-Visual-Journal/dp/1616897147
I'm sure she'll sign a copy if you bring one :)
The Talk:
Giorgia will guide you through how we can design more meaningful experiences with data: including empathy and human qualities in how we approach, gather and represent it. She'll discuss how to see this moment in time as an opportunity to jumpstart a new renaissance, where we can question the impersonality of a merely technical approach to data, where we are ready to reconnect numbers to what they really stand for: our lives, behaviors and ideas.
