TALK 1:

Rediscovering your Creativity and Engagement During a Time of Uncertainty

The past year has shown us how resilient and passionate data visualization practitioners can be to sharing our work with the general public. At the same time, many of us are struggling to find our creativity when we are more tapped out than ever before between our work, family life, remote school, and doom scrolling through the 24/7 news cycle. I will be sharing strategies that have worked on my team to revisit our artistic tendencies and how to better focus your energy when it comes to managing expectations between work and life.

TALK 2:

You Want People to Engage With Your Data Viz, But How?

We create data visualizations because we want to have an impact — change someone's mind, change someone's actions. Before we can make an impact, we need the reader to engage with our graphics. But how? In this talk, I'll share the mental model that I use to guide my decision-making to make graphics more engaging in a wide variety of situations.
