What we’re about
If you have an interest in data and putting it into action for social good please join us at Data for Good - Calgary.
Data For Good is a collective of volunteer do-gooders, using our technical knowledge and skills to help make our communities better through data. We help nonprofit and social organizations harness the power of their data through analytics and visualizations in order to leverage their impact in the community.
Data for Good in Calgary works with organizations in the nonprofit / social sector in a number of ways;
- Datathons - weekend events that involve a large number of volunteers focusing on analytics & visualizations with organizations that have a lot of data and are relatively advanced in their data practices
- Partner Projects – volunteer assistance to nonprofits
- Micro Projects – member-led and short duration
- Monthly Meetups - usually on the 4th Thurs of the month but dates may vary

Insights from Partner Projects: Two Wheel View and Human Venture
Platform Calgary, 407 9 Ave SE, Calgary, AB, CAJoin us as Two Wheel View and Human Venture share insights generated from recently completed Partner Projects. Representatives from the organizations and the Data for Good project teams will present objectives, describe the solutioning process and demonstrate deliverables.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the nonprofit sector from two outstanding organizations. There will be time for networking after the presentations.
Two Wheel View uses best practices in youth development to inform our program curriculum and shape the way we form relationships with the youth, our partners and our community. We are a team that is passionate about being changemakers, building community and making a difference in the lives of others. The bicycle is an excellent tool for learning and a wonderful metaphor for many things we experience as humans. Bicycles carry us towards opportunity and also away from things that might be troubling us. With bikes, as in life, if you push the pedals enough times, over and over, you’ll get to where you want to go.
Human Venture Institute was established in 2013 to extend the work of Ken Low and Human Learning Ecology. The institute’s work includes human venture exploration, mapping, programming and resource development which support capacity development required by individuals, organizations and societies to meet the challenges and opportunities of our time.41 attendees
