Generating Insights from Statistics Canada Data

Details

Statistics Canada has a lot of data, but what’s the best way to find it? To access it? To turn it into something you can use? Whether your interest lies in labour data, information on SMEs, health, or census demographics, there’s something for everybody. Join Data for Good and Statistics for a walk through the website, some tips on how to get the most out of its hidden gems, and a chance to ask your own questions. See you there!

Carter Thompson is a Consulting Analyst with Statistics Canada. Joining the organization for the 2016 Census, he ran recruitment for Northern Alberta, then transitioned over to managing Field Collection for the Aboriginal People’s Survey – Nunavut Supplement. After a visit in -57 degrees Celsius to Iqaluit (and the completion of the APS), he took over the warmer (usually) Alberta Field Collection. Now, his focus is on guiding data users through the wealth of information available from Statistics Canada.
