Data Council Berlin Meetup #2

Details

On September 2nd we will have the second edition of the Data Council Berlin meetup, hosted at Project A. Doors open 18:30h, there will be food at drinks.

We are very excited to have two opinionated and seasoned data veterans presenting, starting at 19:00:

# Flávio Clésio: Low-hanging fruits in ML; A journey with NLP, German Language and FastText

Flávio is a machine learning engineer at MyHammer: https://www.linkedin.com/in/flavioclesio/

He has been a long time advocate for sane technology choices in machine learning. Check out for example this post on his personal blog: https://flavioclesio.com/2019/06/14/my-personal-holy-trinity-for-machine-learning-reproducibility/

In this talk, Flávio will share some of his lessons learnt at MyHammer related to text classification. Especially the importance of looking at the data ("pre-Processing it's gold and models are silver") and the intricacies of the German language.

# Lennard Timm: Let's become data-driven — What could go wrong?

Lennard is a data engineer with an opinion:

Changing decision making processes based on hunches, gut feeling, and egos to something more tangible, backed by data is the ultimate goal. Because data is objective, data never lies, so everything will be more trustworthy, right? Lennard will talk about a good handful of approaches of being really data-driven.
