DataTalks meetup #5: Data Science in the Traveling and Accommodation Field

Hi all,

The 5th DataTalks meetup is here! After 4 great meetup, each one in a different location in our beloved city (Beit Alliance, Beit Hensen and Mitham Hatachana), this time we will meet at the mythical Abraham Hostel. There, we will be exposed to machine learning application in the travel and accommodation field, inline with the hostel spirit. Aviad Klein, the data science manager of Agoda, will share with us his experience in developing recommendation engine to Agoda's website. In addition, we will have a fun social activity that will give a chance to meet each other.

Since we will be hosted in a multinational hostel, the upcoming meetup will be in English. We will continue our beloved tradition - beers and food will be on the us!

Title: Content Optimization at Agoda
Abstract: At Agoda, we face a few challenges on how to match between customers and the content that they see;
This challenge arises when a customer:

• searches for the right hotel among thousands of options
• needs to sift through many reviews to get the 'gist' of a hotel
  We'll go over how we frame the problem and what solutions we've tried, what worked and what not, from simple regression models to a real time, state of the art, machine that recommends hotels tens of millions time a day.
