Question 1: What is the ROI on each of our fundraising efforts? (Corporate, Gov't, Individuals, Foundations, Events and Toque Campaign)

Question 2: Is the Toque Campaign sustainable long term?

Question 3: What are the challenges and opportunities for growth (as part of the Toque Campaign)?

    Possible Data-Corps question (for follow-up)

Bonus 1: What is the impact of Raising the Roof's three focus areas (Public Education, Toque Campaign and Programs)?

Bonus 2: What value does Raising the Roof bring to stakeholders in preventing homelessness?

What pre-reqs do we need to consider for attendance? I assume my laptop etc but are there any specific tools / software that you have "standardized" on using? Also - just curious if any of the results are available as 'open source' projects possibly up on GitHub. Thx.

    • Victor A.

      Hi Glenn,

You will definitely want to bring your laptop. Most groups (and attendees) generally use some of the following:

      - excel (or Google Spreadsheets)
      - R / Matlab / iPython / python
      - powerpoint (for presentation at the end)

All of the work makes it to Github, however you only gain access to the repos if you are part of a DataThon, they are not open.

Hello. Is it necessary to have knowledge of Data Science to be a part of this #DataThon?

    • Victor A.

      Hi Ronak,

    • Victor A.

Not necessarily, however it will help if you are able to work on datasets using typical Data Science tools. We do also have a lot of attendees/volunteers who are not DSes, but are looking to practice their skills.

Hi Ankit, this Saturday will start with breakfast and networking / setting up. We asl people to be on time so that can all happen before the speakers from the Not-for-Profit partner(s) present. Usually that happens around 9:15am or so. Then we take a few minutes for some general Q&A and the groups may form or may not but people tend to dive in to the data for a while to make some sense of it. Around mid-day we stop for lunch, stretch break, chats, etc. and then before we dive in again we ask people to tell us what they're working on and that's another chance for ppl to form and reform groups for team work, or not. Dinner around 6pm and Final Presentations start around 8pm. It's not set in stone but that is generally how the day plays out. Hope that helps! :)
