What we're about

This group is aimed at getting people together to play the grand game of volleyball. We will host events based on specific skill levels as well as social mixers that will include all skill levels.

Upcoming events (4+)

Friday Fun for Everyone

City Island Park

This is open to EVERYONE IN THE MEETUP GROUP regardless of ability.

We need a minimum of 8 players to make this worthwhile experience for all involved.

The format will start with equal numbers on each side (up to 4 on 4) and then may change depending on the number of people that come.

Although we will aim for three hits on a side, the enforced rule will be for safety. Nobody in the net. This is a non-contact sport.

Please note that this starts earlier then the other regular events to allow you to have even more fun afterwards. Can't get there at 6:00, no problem. Come when you can, leave when you have to. If you are planning on being late, please let us know when you'll arrive, Thanks.

You are welcome to bring something to eat and/or drink.

Hope to see you on the sand.

A level quads

We are striving to put together the most competitive 4’s game we can for the top players in the group. Players should be familiar with box formation - 3 hitters, 2 blockers - and may be asked to play set positions.

Since we are playing on a men’s net, players should be able to play competitively at a men’s A level. That does not mean the event is for guys only, but it does mean you generally need to be able to get your palms above a men’s net and hit down in order to generate the level of offense that is capable of beating the type of defense that is expected here.

***More on Waitlist and Player Levels***

Unlike other days, where we try to accommodate anyone who loosely meets the posted skill level, this game will be fairly strict both in terms of the required skill level and the number of players participating.

Players who sign up and are listed as going need to notify the group ASAP if their plans change and they cannot make it or will be late.

Waitlisted players may get to play if one of the attending players doesn't show, leaves early, or is willing to give up their spot for a game or two.

If you are a regular at the Tues/Thurs games but are either a less consistent passer or relatively weak offensively compared to the top players, you may get the opportunity to play if space is available, but please realize the objective here is to play together as a team at the highest level possible. This means:

- Strong passers who cannot block or who have a relatively weak offense may be asked to play back left and hit occasionally from deep middle
- Less consistent passers who have a strong offense may be asked to play front left and let the player behind them handle passes whenever possible
- Less consistent setters may be asked to let a more consistent player set, assuming players are rotating positions.

Feel free to text Francis directly with any questions at[masked] or message Mike on meet up.

3's/4's for BB+ LEVEL and ABOVE players (see details)

City Island Park

** PLEASE READ** - Tuesday Meet-ups are for more advanced players ONLY (Strong BB+, generally with competitive experience).

If you are more of a beginner or are unsure where you belong, come to our Weds/Fri Meet-ups first to get a feel for the level of play. Our hosts on these days will be able to assess if you are ready for the more advanced meetups.

RULES REFRESHER:

All standard beach volleyball rules apply: No open-hand tips/dinks. Hand sets need to be clean. If you set the ball over the net intentionally, it must be perpendicular to your shoulders. Be honest, and call your own nets, lifts, double contacts, etc. We’re here to have fun, but we also want to encourage good habits.

IF YOU SIGN UP BUT CAN’T MAKE IT:

Because there is only 1 court, we try to limit attendance so players don’t spend too much time sitting. This means there is often a waitlist. So if you sign up but can’t make it, please be courteous to your fellow players and take your name off the list. Or, if you know you will be late, let us know in the comments.

WAITLISTED PLAYERS:

Players sometimes drop out last minute, so be sure to check the waitlist as close to game time as possible, as waitlisted players are frequently added as spots open up. If you have not been moved over but still want to play, we encourage you to show up 60-90 minutes late. We do our best to give everyone who comes a reasonable amount of play time, and since some players leave early while others play longer, this helps us keep the games going while preventing overcrowding.

CANCELLATION:

In the event that it is too rainy, cold, windy, or too many players drop out, we will notify players in the comment section. We will try to make the call an hour before start time. If you don’t hear anything, assume the game is still on.

See you on the court!
