Decentralized Urban Infrastructure

Details
How will decentralization affect the infrastructure surrounding us?
Dezentrum invites FOAM and The Things Network to discuss this question and present use cases for decentralized technologies besides of cryptocurrencies.
Maps are playing a vital role in our everyday lives
and FOAM is developing the consensus driven map of the world.
FOAM is providing a geospatial protocol for the Ethereum blockchain, that will serve as the location layer for smart contracts and dApps. Using tokens to create economic incentives for the validation of geospatial data adds a monetization layer to open source mapping to enable new geospatial markets of exchange.
This will allow people to build applications that are connected to verifiable physical addresses, and allow any coordinate to be turned into a blockchain wallet that can hold a balance and be tagged with crowdsourced data. While Bitcoin creates digitally scarce value, and Ethereum creates programmable money, FOAM will enable programmable space.

Our devices get smarter and more interconnected with everyday.
THE THINGS NETWORK is building a network for the Internet of Things by creating abundant data connectivity, so applications and businesses can flourish. Using LoRaWAN technology, The Things Network allows for things to talk to the internet without 3G or WiFi. So no WiFi codes and no mobile subscriptions. It features low battery usage, long range and low bandwidth. Perfect for the internet of things.
As a world wide community The Things Network is building upon their 42020 members, while Zurich has setup the most gateways with the most contributors.
Or as TTN Zurich Initiator Gonzalo Casas puts it: „Let me repeat that: there are more than 100 crowd-sourced gateways in Zurich providing open and free LoRaWAN connectivity to everyone around!“
