What we’re about
Deep Spring Center’s (http://www.deepspring.org) primary focus is to speak to the question of how we may live with more wisdom and compassion, with lovingkindness and non-harm to all beings. Our work falls into two categories, meditation and spiritual inquiry. In “spiritual inquiry or working with spirit,” questions related to our deepest purposes here on earth are explored. Who are we? Are we merely body and mind or is there a deeper, universal essence to our being? Why are we incarnate, and to what use may we put his incarnate experience? Life offers us some painful experiences. How can we relate to these as “teacher” rather than opponent and respond with increasing wisdom, compassion and love?
Fundamental to our spiritual inquiry is the practice of (mindfulness | vipassana) meditation. While the core of the meditation practices we teach derive from Buddhist traditions, no ritual is included and no special religious beliefs are necessary to their practice. Deep Spring Center is, at heart, a community of individuals who are asking questions about how we can live with more clarity and love.
Deep Spring Center, the organization, is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We offer residential meditation retreats, meditation classes and a meditation sitting group, and conduct workshops on a variety of topics in our home community.
Our founder and guiding teacher is Barbara Brodsky, the channel for Aaron. She is joined by other Deep Spring teachers. We also bring in outside teachers who lead retreats.
Deep Spring Center is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers, and enjoys recognition by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity.

Monthly on Sundays at 2 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST
#### Description
A live session with Barbara Brodsky and The Mother.
Remembering Wholeness meets once a month. All are welcome.
###### Darshan with The Mother
My love to you all. I am The Mother.
A mother is one who gives birth to, supports, and cherishes, and then releases out into the universe, with love, always ready to hold and support.
Now, with zoom, everyone hears all my words. I continue to speak to individuals but often what I say is applicable to many in the group. You are welcome to listen and use whatever supports you.In Remembering Wholeness as we continue, I will be offering from my own understanding, and also as supported by Aaron and Yeshua, the personal and the group messages that can most support the program participants. These are the places where people are a little bit stuck; the places where that stickiness will be helped to release by gently revealing itself when held deeply with love. I will speak more to the whole gathered group than in past years. People are able to hear what resonates for each one. Always, my unconditional love for each being will be the container.

#### Dana
All Deep Spring Center teachers offer their time on a dana basis, joyfully sharing the teachings. Your free-will offerings are always appreciated. Dana, or generosity, is one of the 'perfections' (parami) that we seek to cultivate, along with patience, loving-kindness, humility, joy, gratitude, equanimity, compassion, resolution truthfulness, effort, mindfulness and wisdom. (In Theravada Buddhism there are 12 perfections that all strengthen our progress on the path). In this way, dana is an important part of the dharma we teach, the dharma of sila (moral awareness), panna (wisdom) and Samadhi (mindfulness and concentration).
There is a beautiful teaching from one of the Buddha’s lives, when he was a Bodhisattva before he was the Buddha. A blind man asked him for one of his eyes. He plucked out one eye and handed it to the blind man. The blind man then threw it on the ground and stepped on it, shattered it. An observer asked the giver if he was not enraged at the misuse of this precious gift. He replied that the eye was freely given; he had no attachment about its use.
Often when we give in such a situation, we do have attachment, even if just to get the satisfaction of knowing the blind one now sees. We want something out of it. That kind of giving is not true dana.
Offer dana to Deep Spring Center teachers.

### Evenings with Aaron - Winter 2024
Monthly on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST
#### Description
A live, open session with Aaron and Barbara Brodsky.
Evenings with Aaron meets once a month. All are welcome.
Aaron has met with us regularly since 1989. In this gathering, Aaron often will address a present world issue and how we can best support the resolution of this issue from a place of loving awareness. He reminds us that whatever appears in our lives comes as a teacher. We are here to learn and practice dynamic compassion, that is, to actively live in the world while always connected to our spiritual centers. On some weeks, Aaron may direct us to a specific spiritual practice. Some months, the evening will become “Aaron and friends” as he invites spirit friends to speak with him. After his talk, Aaron will invite questions and sharing.######
