What we're about
This is a group for anyone interested in acoustic music: playing, singing and songwriting, (or just listening). All acoustic instruments are welcome; guitar, mandolin, violin, banjo, dobro, cajon, djembe, standup bass, (we're not purists so an amped bass guitar will qualify). Vocal harmonies will be an integral part of this meetup. We'll also explore songwriting and performance.
The idea of this group is to meet play and sing with other acoustic music enthusiasts. A place where people can get together and find other people with similar interests in music and then be able to meet up with one another in compatible groups of people.
We'll get together to have fun playing and singing folk music, traditional music and current acoustic covers. We'll have informal meet ups, meet ups at venues and pot luck meetups. All skill levels and listeners are welcome.
Our 2015 theme "DAMM CONNECTIONS" for members to meet with other members to form CONNECTIONS: arrange and rehearse songs together before our regular song circle at 7PM. This will take a little coordination and a little networking on your part to make it happen. Whether you're into folk, traditional, bluegrass or acoustic rock covers there's others out there that are also into it so make the connection!
It's hard sometimes to lead the group in a song or play/sing your song solo but with a little rehearsal with another like minded member musician it becomes much easier and a lot of fun. Get to know other members by arranging songs together then performing them at our regular meetup. We also encourage you to make "CONNECTIONS" with other members and get together outside our regular meetup days to arrange and rehearse songs you choose.
As always this is an "acoustic" music meetup so no amps (with exception to the bass thru a small bass amp so we can hear it). Some of our members are accomplished musicians while others are just getting back into playing and singing after a long hiatus so with some respect and a little patience we can all make a few connections and have a great time.
For our friends, family and the artists among us, easels and art supplies will be set up in the Rec Center and open to any one wanting to explore their inner creativity in non-instructional play environment. Join in or just sit and listen, everyone is welcome!
