'Demand Better' is a peer support group for those that identify as coming from the black and minority ethnic community and are between 18-30 years old. The group is for those that want to chat about their mental health in a safe space, as well as forge friendships and connections that help to reduce isolation. Our name 'Demand Better,' is derived from the reality that people from an ethnic minority background often face more roadblocks to accessing mental health services. By creating this peer group, we are stating that BME voices in health matter.
We also hope to plan activities as a group that involve volunteering projects in the city as well as doing fun things out! The peer group itself will meet on a fortnightly basis, exact time and location TBD. Stay tuned for further details, and check out our instagram page for updates: https://www.instagram.com/demandbetter_/
This project is led by Dorothy and Chinyanta, and we are employed by the Scotland-Zambia Partnership.
