We ( WER www.wempoweride.com ) and JEFFCO Female Rangers will be offering a free Women's Self Defense Class on March 24th, 9am - 11am. (If you want to join for some brunch afterward, let me know and I'll add you to list). The female Jefferson County Open Space Rangers designed a program at the request of park visitors who wanted to know how they could feel safer in their daily lives. The self-defense program combines psychological (approx. 30 minutes) and physical techniques (approx. 80 minutes) to help someone avoid or extricate themselves from unsafe situations. The first 30 minutes is a sit-down discussion. The next portion we are up and moving around, learning to punch, kick, etc. The course is based on training the instructors have received as well as personal experience. Since space is limited and In order to assure that only women sign up who actually will be taking the class, there is an initial $6 sign up fee of which $5 will be reimbursed to you when you show up for class. If you do not show up, NO refund of any kind. You can also donate the $5 to the ranger's program, if you so choose. ($1 of $6 is fee to EVENTBRITE). The exact address for class will be sent to you, once you have signed up.
