Join us for a fun filled day for the whole family even the dog!

September is AKC Responsible Dog Ownership month, and local pet businesses are celebrating by holding a community event for all dog lovers and their families that publicly promotes responsible dog ownership and the unique bond we share with our canine companions.

Loads of activities for the kids, and attendees can speak one-on-one with experienced dog trainers, pet sitters, a canine therapeutic massage therapist, pet supply retailers, and other pet related businesses from around the Broomfield area. Those looking to show their neighbors that their dog is an upstanding member of the community can take the AKC Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Test – a 10-step test certification that rewards well-mannered, obedient dogs.

Area dog trainers, pet sitters, boarding facilities, a pet photographer, food vendors (for people), dog rescues and dog related businesses will be on hand to share with you some of the responsibilities that go along with owning a dog. Rocky Mountain Dog Training will host a training demo at 1:30 pm and dogs will be welcome to try out our confidence course. AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluations will be offered at 2:15 pm.

Free face painting for the kids will be sponsored by VIPet Sitter Service, free AKC coloring books will be handed out courtesy of Rocky Mountain Dog Training while supplies last, and Dog Food Samples from Willow Run will be available. Goodie bags will be handed out to the first 50 participants. Have your dog's photo taken courtesy of highly sought after local pet photographer Samantha Grey of Samantha Grey Photography who will have her mobile portrait studio set up on site. Space is limited, and we only have spots available for 9 dogs, so contact us early to sign up! Create a fabulous Toss-n-Tug toy for your dog out of 100% recycled wool at the Bark for Peace! booth! This event was created for our community to enjoy a day with the entire family (including the dog!). A percentage of proceeds from select activities will benefit local dog rescue organizations.

• Free booklets about canine health care, conformation, obedience, rally, training, showing dogs, housebreaking, how to find a puppy from a good breeder or rescuer, coloring books, kid/dog safety and much more

• Variety of vendor and dog rescue organization booths

• Confidence Course

• AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing

• Silent Auction to benefit Dog Rescue Groups
