Data and analytics are an important strategic advantage for companies in the greater Des Moines area today and for years to come. Organizations are already growing their analytics departments and universities are preparing students for the workforce to meet this need. This meet-up will connect those in the analytics community in Des Moines, regardless of technology or tool.
This group is open to anyone interested in entering or currently in the data or analytics field. This includes data analysts, reporting analysts, business intelligence analysts, data scientists, and analytics leaders as well as students, faculty and others who support the analytics community.
At the events you will get an opportunity to meet others in the Des Moines analytics community and also hear from local experts regarding topics of visualization, data wrangling, analytics methods, analytics culture, and building analytics skills.
During these trying times we want to continue to build our analytics community and help you sharpen your analytics and storytelling skills. So, we are trying something new. Our first analytics challenge! The challenge will begin May 18th and run until June 8th 2020. To participate, just sign-up for the event and get started. Details are below.
We challenge you and at least one teammate/friend to come up with your own projections of how the COVID-19 virus will continue to impact Iowa in 2020 and beyond. Specifically, provide your analysis and projection of the health impact on Iowans and/or the financial impact on the Iowa economy.

Remember, you must partner with at least 1 other individual to be qualified.
To enter the competition, e-mail a 10 minute presentation of your findings(i.e. recorded video, PowerPoint presentation with notes, dashboard link with explanation or whatever other mechanism you which to share and highlight your findings), describe your analytics techniques and explain why you chose that technique to [masked].
