This is an online session that mirrors the spontaneous writing meetings at the Cathedral City Library. We do short, timed writings together from writing prompts (or from words drawn from the magic word pouch!). We read our impromptu work out loud and receive good, specific feedback from the group, words or phrases that strike people, images, feelings the work evokes. (There is no critique, no advice for strengthening the writing, because this is spontaneous writing, not polished work.)

This chance to meet via computer or mobile device (or by phone) is surprisingly akin to being together in "real life" (!!) and offers the added bonus of seeing each participant as though we are sitting across from each other.

While I encourage writing by hand for all spontaneous writing unless you have a disability, because this session is online, you are also welcome to write on your computer if you prefer.

This is a great chance to encourage agile writer's minds, to stretch, to bypass our critic and censor, practice sharing our impromptu work, grow larger in ourselves. I think you'll find these online sessions can be surprisingly warm and filled with lovely connections. :)

Sessions are offered via Zoom videoconferencing software. The link and instructions to attend the meeting will be sent through Meetup (no later than one hour before the event, but usually earlier that day). We will all write together "live," and depending on the number of people attending, we may do most of our reading and feedback in small breakout groups.

This event is fee-based, and tickets are NONREFUNDABLE unless the meeting itself is cancelled or rescheduled by the organizer. (First meeting each month is offered free.)

RSVPs will close at 9:29am the morning of the event.
