Design Thinking 101

It's been a busy summer for the DT:DC Leadership Team organizing the 5th Summer of Design. So join us as we jump back into regular programming and kickoff the Fall season with an Introduction to Design Thinking 101. This is an evening designed especially for our newer members who have never done an intro to Design Thinking before. This workshop will give you a solid 'feel' for human-centered design if you're new to the concept. We will focus on doing and making using a ‘design’ process to approach problems you'll face in an established organization or as an entrepreneur.

Plan to arrive early. The activities build upon each other and if you miss the start, you will miss the opportunity to participate in the hands-on activities.

What you'll learn:

• What it really means to do user-centered design

• How to start with empathy instead of solutions

• How to define a nuanced problem and point of view for your design

• How to ideate and brainstorm like a mad person

• How to prototype like a wizard (No drawing or building skills required!)

• How to test your prototype
