"Designers believe in radical collaboration because true genius is a collaborative process. We design our lives in collaboration and connection with others, because we is always stronger than I - it's a simple as that." ~ Dave Evans and Bill Burnett, Designing Your Life
I am looking forward to co-creating this conscious community of women exploring Designing our Lives that believe we can do more to support each other personally and professionally through a proven approach focused on awareness, curiosity, reframing problems, bias to action, and radical collaboration.
The focus of this community will be exploring Life Design principles from Bill Burnett and Dave Evans' New York Times Bestseller, Designing Your Life (http://designingyour.life/the-book/), and their new book that was released February 25th, Designing Your Work Life (http://designingyour.life/designing-your-work-life-book/). The format will be similar to a book cub reading the new Designing Your Work Life book together, with time in our live events included for experiential learning and radical collaboration.
With most of us spending more time at work than in any other activity and Gallup data showing over 69% of Americans are disengaged at work, there are opportunities for most of us to learn how to thrive and change and find happiness at work in 2020 and beyond.
This meetup is ideally suited for women in Austin, Texas that:
• Are feeling stuck personally or professionally
• Recognize that we are all in charge of designing our own career path
• Like 88% of Americans, dread going back to work Monday on Sunday night
• Are considering a career change and aren’t sure where to begin
• Are concerned our jobs may be taken over by automation
• Are just getting started in our career
• Are returning to the workforce and want to leverage our interests and skillset vs. “starting over.”
NOTE: We will be creating a forum outside of Meetup for all members to collaborate and share content, whether attending the all of the live meetup events or just a few. If you'd like to join the forum and have access to additional materials, please provide your contact information here (https://imaginework.typeform.com/to/B3EFSZ). Your privacy will be respected and will not be shared without your permission.
A copy of the book will be required for participation in this meetup. The book can be reserved at the local library or ordered from your favorite book store.
ABOUT YOUR ORGANIZER:
The original Designing Your Life had such a powerful impact on me that I began utilizing the book as a framework in my coaching practice with clients and have witnessed many lives being transformed. For me personally, I combined my love of travel and desire to do meaningful work and since 2017, have worked in 15 European countries and 26 US-based cities, working with clients globally, advocating for women's empowerment, volunteering with refugees, and creating a more joyful, well-lived life. In early 2019 I attended a Designing Your Life for Women workshop and began prototyping how to incorporate my love of Nature into my work. This led me to organize Women Empowering Women in Nature (WeWiN) (https://www.meetup.com/Women-Empowering-Women-in-Nature/) and after immersive training beginning the Summer of 2019, I expanded my professional program offerings (https://imaginework.com/) to include introducing clients to the power of spending time outdoors.
Our intention is to build an active, harmonious community of diverse, interesting women by offering a container for meaningful conversations, self-discovery and personal growth. Our desire is that this investment of time and energy will make it easier for us to open ourselves to forming new friendships that lead to lasting and meaningful relationships. Our goal is that every member feels comfortable and able to become further integrated into the DYLATX community, and we welcome participants stepping forward to share their gifts by co-leading events with the community. All members are asked to not post or push promotions or sales pitches in order to promote authentic connection and openness. We further remind all members to keep personal conversations shared at events confidential. All women over 18 are welcome regardless of race, creed, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation or disability status.
