What we're about
Upcoming events (4+)
Enjoy an afternoon of drumming, dancing and dishes. Master drummer and drummaker Alex Wedmedyk takes us on a fascinating drum journey.
Since ancient times, sound has been used to activate healing powers and elevate the consciousness. Sound vibrations are experienced not only through the ears but through every cell of the body. Disease occurs when parts of the body become out of sync with their natural state. Sound vibrations cause a phenomenon known as entrainment - entraining or synchronizing the body to resonate with a more powerful vibration - which can spontaneously trigger the return to a balanced state.
The power of sound can also affect the subtle bodies, facilitating a deep sense of peace, releasing tension and negativity, and removing energy blocks. Participants typically experience a sense of ultimate well-being, heightened awareness, and interconnectedness.
Please bring a drum (if you have one), your own chair, a potluck dish to share, and your own drink and utensils. Beginners are welcome! If you do not have a drum, please let us know, or a bucket and stick will also work just fine.

Cost: $10/person. Kids 12 and under come for free.
Pre-register for $1 off by sending your $9 Zelle payment to

Please join us for drumming as the holiday weekend winds down.
Palmer Park lies between 7 and 6 Mile roads, and Woodward and Ponchartran in conveniently-located north-central Detroit.
Until the season is hotter and drier, our meeting area is just south of 7 Mile along Pontchartrain, on top of the little knoll where there were a couple of picnic tables about 1/4 mile south of 7 Mile. -- Just look for the line of cars parked along the side of Pontchartrain, and if you see a group of people with drums -- you found the right spot. ;-)
Although there are a couple of picnic tables there, you may prefer to bring something to sit on We always have a few extra percussion instruments for those who don't have drums.
SAFETY MATTERS: Even those of us who are fully vaccinated and boosted can pass the virus to others and unfortunately, people are still getting it. Please practice common-sense guidelines and maintain six feet of distance or wear your mask.
Modest donations of $2-$5 are always welcome for our Meetup costs and kitty for special events. (Like the Drum Camp weekend we hope we can pull together this summer! Send your hot leads for locations our way.)
We look forward to seeing and hearing you soon! :-)
Posting this for informational purposes. If folks want to make this an outing together, share your thoughts in the messages.
