Talk 1 : Frank Quinn, Principal Engineer, Vela - "Cross platform, cross language dependency management with Artifactory"

Python, Ruby, Java, C# and even Perl have had their own first class dependency management systems for years. Why can't we have the same for C and C++ regardless of whether you're on windows or linux? This talk discusses how Vela are using a tool called Artifactory to manage their internal and external dependencies across multiple platforms and languages including the dreaded binary incompatible C and C++.

Talk 2 : Michael Robinson, Vela - "Building a self service VM farm with oVirt"

An insight into building your own private cloud and whether or not you should! This talk is a brief history of how I built our oVirt VM cluster from the ground up. From building and racking the hardware, to configuring and setting up the end user VMs.

About Frank Quinn

Frank had his first taste of devops when he joined the Wombat team in 2005 and cut his teeth on systems administration and build and release. He has since worked across multiple projects as an automation engineer, programmer, support manager and general utility player across various disparate technology stacks. He is currently a Principal Engineer with Vela based in their Belfast office and maintainer of OpenMAMA as well as a few other OpenMAMA related projects.

About Michael Robinson

Nine years in industry, largely working in roles that are now described as DevOps, though were historically labelled otherwise. Passionate about DevOps, Linux, Python and the ecosystem therein. Currently Managing a DevOps team at Vela in Belfast.
