Serverless Open Source Functions With Oracle and Scalyr @ Oracle NYC

Details

Hi Everyone,
After a 2 month break, DevOps & Drinks is back and better than ever! We're raising the stakes again, and one of the world's top companies is hosting, sponsoring, and presenting at our meetup this time around!

On October 4th, we will be meeting at Oracle's NYC HQ to discuss Awesome Serverless Functions with Shaun Smith, a Director at Oracle.

We will also be discussing faster log management with Scalyr.

Both presenters are also sponsoring the event, and will be providing food for everyone, as well as beverages.

What you can expect is awesome. First, Oracle would like to offer $500 free Oracle Cloud platform trial to the meetup attendees. The trial will be valid for 30 days. You can try any of the services the Oracle cloud platform offers during the trial period. This sign-up is completely voluntary. That's right, $500 free Oracle Cloud Platform for ALL attendees! All you need to do is show up, and sign up for it!

Also, The Averity DevOps Team will be giving away an Oculus Go Device at the end of the meetup for a lucky attendee.

Presentations will be announced in detail as the date gets closer, but what you can expect from Shaun at Oracle :

Awesome Open Source Functions!

Serverless Functions are hot, and many organizations are investigating how to incorporate them into their applications. But what are they and how do they relate to containers? If they are truly serverless does that eliminate Ops? Join us at the next DevOps and Drinks on October 4th for answers to these and other intriguing questions!

Also, Scalyr will be presenting to us regarding their amazing log management tools. Here's their Abstract :

Like black box data from an airplane, the data in your logs should be able to tell you when something isn't working properly and should help you figure out where the issues are. Come hear sr. engineer, Jim Mullady of Scalyr, provide a talk on logging best practices. In this session, you’ll hear practical advice on how best to get exactly that value from your log data including concrete steps you can take before something goes wrong to ensure you’re best set up to respond to an issue or incident quickly. Scalyr is a log monitoring provider based in San Mateo, California. The company offers an integrated suite of server monitoring, log management, visualization and analysis tools that aggregates all the metrics into a centralized system in real time, which can be integrated with cloud services.

As always, food, beer, soda, water, and other beverages will be provided free of charge. The Averity team will be there to answer any questions that you may have about the state of the DevOps market, and to just have a great time.
