Apologies but we had to change this meetup to the Galway Chamber of Commerce and to a Wednesday for September only.
For this meetup of the DevOps Galway group we are looking forward to bringing you talks on Moving a Windows environment to the cloud (Giulio Vian from Glass Lewis & Co) and DevOps in the Automotive Industry (Gerard Flynn from Valeo).
Giulio Vian - Moving a Windows environment to the cloud
Giulio started coding assembler on a Sinclair ZX80, but now he is scripting Azure and hacking pipelines for Glass Lewis & Co. In between he programmed in many different languages, worked in a few countries and consulting dozens of disparate customers. He is a Microsoft MVP[masked] on Azure DevOps, he speaks at local and international events for fun and passion.
A legacy application portfolio constrains which technologies to use in the DevOps journey. In Glass Lewis we are moving our application environment to the cloud. We had to face Active Directory, demanding databases, legacy apps, Linux and a fancy mix of OS versions. Are you curious to know how we solved the puzzle using Terraform, Powershell DSC, VSTS and some?
Gerard Flynn - DevOps in Automotive Industry
Gerard Flynn works for Valeo Vision System Tuam (5 years). Current position R&D M&T Domain Engineer (Valeo term for DevOps).
Gerard has 14 years experience as Network Engineer and IT Administrator for various companies, working on different platforms, OS, scripting and software development.
When he joined Valeo they where in the need for a DevOps platform, and his skills from his previous role support this new concept. He implemented Jenkins and created a new process for Continuous integration. Valeo is an automotive supplier and partner to automakers worldwide. Now as software is a key in all automotive areas we needed a solution to get our code onto the product quickly, safely and efficiently.
Pizza's & Refreshments will be available on the evening sponsored by Genesys.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
