Make your system observable

Details

Abstract:
What does it mean for a system to be observable? Why is observability fundamental for distributed systems? What is the impact of observability on end-users, support & engineering?
We will use years of learnings from RabbitMQ & Concourse to answer these questions and show you how these products have addressed this fundamental need.
To get the most out of this talk, it will help to know beforehand what is RabbitMQ (https://www.rabbitmq.com/features.html) and what is Concourse (https://concourse-ci.org/docs.html).

Speaker:
Gerhard Lazu is an engineer on RabbitMQ. He has been working on RabbitMQ stability, predictability and observability for a few years now.
Gerhard is based in London, but he enjoys Switzerland so much that he wants to make it his home. Speak to him if you see an opportunity to collaborate.
For more context, see https://gerhard.io

After the talk there will be enough time to discuss your sepecific topic in open space sessions.

Agenda:
17:30 - Door Opening
17:45 – Welcome and Short Introduction
18:00 – What are the benefits and challenges of observability in distributed systems?
18:45 – Open Space*
As usual there will be enough beer and snacks :)

  • bring your topic to the meetup. Let’s discuss what is interesting and relevant to you. Here’s a description of the format for anyone who isn’t familiar with it: Open Spaces (https://www.devopsdays.org/open-space-format/)

Want to support this Meetup? We are always looking for exciting talks, sponsors for snacks and beer and good locations. Get in touch with us!

We are looking forward to seeing you
