Speakers & Talk abstract
Speaker #1 (https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertkluin?authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=esOv&locale=en_US&trk=tyah&trkInfo=clickedVertical%3Amynetwork%2CclickedEntityId%3A44370870%2CauthType%3ANAME_SEARCH%2Cidx%3A1-1-1%2CtarId%3A1487162953152%2Ctas%3Arobert%20klui)
Robert is an experienced technology executive, system architect, and Google Developer Expert for Cloud Platform. He is passionate about developing engineering organizations that reliably deliver business value. At Workiva he created and led the Infrastructure & Reliability organization that empowered dozens of engineering teams to release and own container-based microservices in production environments - aka DevOps. At Workiva, Robert’s team had to meet stringent compliance requirements while supporting over a dozen programming languages and multiple releases per day.
In his spare time, Robert loves being on two wheels and is an avid bicyclist and motorcyclist.
''In the first half of our talk, we will walk through how Workiva evolved and implemented “DevOps” - meaning empowered engineering teams - in an environment with hundreds of software engineers across dozens of teams with strict compliance controls.''
Speaker #2
Nick is a software engineer with over 20 years’ experience helping startups and large engineering organisations sleep better at night. Nick’s focus is implementing DevOps patterns such as continuous integration, automated testing, continuous deployment strategies, and automated application health monitoring. He is an expert at leveraging modern tools such as Kubernetes and Serverless architectures to reduce operational burden and improve productivity. This allows businesses to focus more resources on what really matters - delivering value to customers.
''The second part of the talk will dive into the technical hurdles we faced and how we solved them. We will provide an overview of the Continuous Build and Integration, Deployment Control, and Cluster Management systems we developed to empower engineering teams.''
Speaker #3 (https://www.linkedin.com/in/thiagodefaria?authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=jbej&locale=en_US&trk=tyah&trkInfo=clickedVertical%3Amynetwork%2CclickedEntityId%3A338707984%2CauthType%3ANAME_SEARCH%2Cidx%3A1-1-1%2CtarId%3A1487163107057%2Ctas%3Athia)
Thiago is a different Brazilian - why? Because he likes football, but mainly loves Ice Hockey! Mathematician and Statistician by formation, he always loved modelling data and predicting stuff. During a dark period of his life, he even worked as Database Administrator and spent hours of his life writing his beloved shell scripts, python and optimising data sharding. He came back from the dark side, moved to the Netherlands and now is a happy DataOps/ Data Scientist / Product Owner / devops enthusiast and event organiser! He loves to share knowledge, learn and screw up demos in front of everyone (damn you, Demo Gods!)!
"This talk is a call for help and attention. We are building several applications that use machine learning algorithms because it is the best solution for some problems that need external data. But at what cost? How do AI systems differentiate from the regular software engineers systems? I will provide an overview of the subject and how we can tackle some legacy issues that may arise from ML/AI systems."
Disclaimer: We will have a film crew making some videos in the area during this event.
