As this is a hands-on session, please remember to have your laptop ready
This month, learn how to implement a Service Mesh! Easily and securely connect your microservices to each other and have the Service Mesh take care of routing, authentication, authorization, and even metrics collection!
We are going to deploy a ready-made two-tier web app in AWS, then move it from using Consul’s Service Discovery (which we are of course all familiar with) to its Service Mesh. We won’t need to worry about implementing TLS encryption or firewall rules / security groups anymore, but we’ll see how Consul Connect managed mutual TLS (mTLS) out of the box, and allows us to specify ‘intentions’ as logical traffic flow rules!
As so often in DevOps, we will know it was a success when everything has changed, yet no one will be able to see a difference! (“What do you guys even do…?“)
Even if you’ve never used Consul, do come along and learn something new. You can follow our step-by-step instructions on the night (we’ll have the infrastructure ready for everyone who registers on Meetup!), or on your own time in your own environment.
