Lunch&&Learn- Getting Started with State Charts

Details
Devhub Vancouver is launching a weekly series of Lunch&&Learns-- casual one-hour seminars with varying topics targeted at developers. Why not use your lunch break to learn something new?
This week's Lunch&&Learn topic is "Getting Started with State Charts" presented by Shawn McKay, Fullstack JavaScript Developer and passionate Educator (https://www.linkedin.com/in/shmck/)
In this session, Shawn will talk about why state management seems particularly difficult in JavaScript. Introducing an elegant way of visually drawing and designing state: state charts. State charts are a simplified representation of state machines used in computer science for over 30 years. Only now are state charts growing in use within the JavaScript community thanks to popular libraries such as XState & React Automata.
Shawn works as a JavaScript Developer at Semios where he designs & develops complex applications that intersect the areas of cloud, IOT, big data and agriculture.
In his spare time, he enjoys creating projects including Rematch (a Redux framework), CodeRoad (an open source coding tutorial tool), and more recently, a beautiful new State Chart Designing tool. Find some of his ideas and interests on Medium or Twitter.
Come learn about how state charts can simplify your applications and make your job easier.
