JavaScript developers have a lot of power these days. In a matter of moments, we can create a place on the World Wide Web where anyone with an internet connection and a web browser can interact with things we make. But, when developing a traditional web app, we are limited by the capabilities of the browser. Sure, we can make pretty web pages, but we don’t have much control over the physical world around us.

Imagine what it would be like to easily make apps that sense temperature, motion, or air quality. Imagine being able to control lights, heating, or door locks; using the same technologies we use to make web apps. With a Raspberry Pi, we can use our existing programming skills to make things that interact with the real world. And what’s more impressive, is that we can do it all with a high-level language like JavaScript.

In this session, Sam will talk demonstrate how to use a Raspberry Pi and JavaScript to connect sensors to The Internet.
