Getting old is fun. Being old . . . not so much. Unless you know how to do it right. My job is to help you do it right.
I'm a certified health and wellness coach. I'm 75 years old and the Human Resources Director for a medical management company in San Antonio, Texas. All my life, I've worked in the personal development field helping people build self-confidence, communicate more effectively, build relationships, and manage themselves better. I've seen the amazing transformations that happen when people get a vision of their best self and start learning and working toward that vision. That stuff isn't just for kids either. It's for all ages.
What is old age? It's different for everyone. Some people are old at an early age, others are still going strong into their nineties and beyond. Regardless of our attitude toward getting older, it's not for sissies. Our culture does not support us well in our later years. We're expected to retire and pack up all of the knowledge and skills that we've developed over the years and store it away in the attic. We're expected to gain weight and be in poor health. We're stereotyped and judged before people get to know us.
I knew I had crossed the threshold into what my dear friend Bill Zaner called Geezerhood when I was given the Senior Discount without asking for it. Bill Zaner was my coach and mentor. He made a living as an artist his entire life and was painting right up to his last day. He knew how to do it right.
