Intro to CanJS — Building a Weather Report

Details
CanJS is a collection of front-end libraries that make it easier to build complex and innovative web apps. It has APIs for creating custom elements with a Mustache-like syntax and observables that make it easy to model your data—and connect to any API. At this meetup, you’ll learn the basics of CanJS and we’ll walk through building a sample app together (so bring your laptop)! We’ll build a simple weather report widget with Yahoo’s Weather API and Query Language (YQL) that:
-
Allows a user to enter a location
-
Gets and displays the places for the user’s location
-
Allows a user to select a place
-
Gets and displays the forecast
Presenting the talk will be Chasen Le Hara. Chasen (@chasenlehara) has a decade’s worth of experience as a web developer and is a core contributor to DoneJS, the complete and integrated solution to building high-performance, real-time web, mobile, and desktop applications. He currently works as a developer advocate for Bitovi, a JavaScript consulting company known for making great web apps for Levi’s, Walmart, and other high-profile companies he can’t talk about.
