Buddhist Essentials: Introduction and Meditation
In Buddhism, meditation means effortlessly remaining in what is. This state may be brought about by calming and holding the mind, when compassion and wisdom are realized, or by working with energy in the body. Come as you are and learn more about how these timeless Buddhist teachings can be used in our modern active lives! No experience with Buddhism or meditation is needed. We will begin at approximately 7:30pm with a introductory lecture on Diamond Way Buddhism followed by a guided meditation at 8pm. There will be opportunity for questions and answers.

What we're about

Come meditate with us Tuesday at 7:30pm in our beautiful public meditation center located at 114 East 28th Street, Suite #1.

We offer a short (10 minute) introductory talk about a Buddhist topic and conclude with a half hour meditation session. Meditation is always free and guided in English. Everyone is welcome to come and learn how to work with their mind!

Our center is part of an international network of 700+ Diamond Way Buddhist Centers. The centers were started due to the unique inspiration of Lama Ole Nydahl and Hannah Nydahl according to the wishes of H.H. 16th Karmapa. They are now under the spiritual guidance of H.H. 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje. These centers consist of people and families working full-time jobs, and incorporating Diamond Way Buddhist teachings and meditations into their daily lives. Members share responsibility for guiding meditations, answering questions, and giving explanations about Buddhism; their work is unpaid, and based on idealism and friendship.
