What we're about

We have recently moved to Didcot, and we would like to make friends and 'be social' while discovering our new town. Didcot is expanding rapidly, and we felt like there are probably many people in our situation. Relocating is hard so having a group to welcome new people to the area would be a great way to meet new friends.

Everyone can join this group! It's not a 'social' group, a 'singles' group, or a 'professionals' group. It's a group for people to interact with others and have a chance to meet people who live nearby. We also welcome 'Didcot natives' who would like to expand their social circles.

The events will be varied. Didcot is growing fast, and there are always new things to explore! Some ideas for meetups might be a pub walk around Didcot and surrounding villages, a football match in one of the many parks, dinner and a show....This list goes on and on! And we always welcome new ideas!

Monthly meetup at the Berro Lounge

Berro Lounge

Hi guys,

We will be hosting our September monthly meetup at the Berro Lounge in the Orchard Center in central Didcot. This is a very nice and eclectic cafe/bar with great food and a very nice atmosphere.

We will be sitting inside and the table will have a sign saying meetup.

As always, please reach out and suggest any additional meetups/locations you're interested in having.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Local music: The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band at South Moreton Boxing Club

South Moreton Boxing And Fitness Club

We will be going to watch The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band who are playing at South Moreton Boxing Club on Saturday, 2nd October. The bar opens at 7pm. Tickets cost £8.

I came across this in the local Round & About magazine and thought it looked good fun, and the venue very near to Didcot. The band plays material influenced by jazz and jump blues from the 1920s and 1930s and they have played at venues ranging from Ronnie Scott's to Glastonbury Festival. WeGotTickets described them as 'Delivering a knock out punch in the name of Traditional Jazz Music slash the Pogues slash the Sex Pistols'. Here's a short clip from one of their shows: https://z-m-www.facebook.com/TheRustyBicycle/videos/357513931742276/

Tickets can be bought through WeGotTickets.com (search for 'Rabbit'). Note that tickets are limited (less than 20) so I suggest buying as soon as possible if you would like to join us.

We haven't decided on transport to the venue yet but may get a taxi (as it's only a 10 minute drive) - if anyone is interested in sharing a taxi do let me know.

Hope to see some of you there!
