What we're about

TechDeLand is changing our name to Digital DeLand.

We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-8pm at various locations. Check the digitaldeland facebook page for current locations. We frequently meet at the Abbey Bar DeLand, located at 117 North Woodland Blvd, DeLand 32720 but sometimes at Stetson and other venues so be sure to check before each meeting.

The purpose of Tech DeLand is to help people and organizations (businesses, nonprofits or government) in West Volusia make better use of technology to accomplish their goals. Although Tech Deland has been dormant, we will be restarting in the fall - better and more productive than ever. Now is the time to start planning to be involved - to help shape the organization and make it work effectively to help you accomplish your goals.

For many of us, as individuals or as part of organizations, our goals include making West Volusia better, stronger and more livable, affordable, enjoyable, equitable and sustainable. For many this may mean working closer to home, spending less time and money commuting, or investigating alternate forms of mobility. For others it will mean protecting our fragile environment and water supplies, while others may be focused on personal well-being or social issues. We’ll be considering ways technology can be harnessed to advance these shared goals too.

We are seeking your opinions, recommendations and assistance. To be involved simply join the group stating your tech interests and other information that might be relevant. In the next few days new and existing members will be sent a welcome message and some questions to assist with planning and organizing for the fall relaunch. If you wish to be registered for a particular tech specialty – whether interested, expert or potential speaker – please let us know.   If we get enough interest we'll set up a database.

Tech Deland will meet on the third Wednesday of every month. Tech Deland’s mission is to provide an opportunity to learn and network about enabling technologies and tools that help businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofits - all organizations and individuals - meet their goals. Technology is moving faster than ever. Tech DeLand offers an opportunity to keep up with the latest trends and advances.

Join us November 17 to explore open-source tools and commercial products that offer feature-packed free or low-cost options. We’ll focus on tools and tips for small to mid-sized businesses, nonprofits and startups.

Future programs will feature web development, virtual operations, social media, data management, geospatial/mapping, videography, graphic design, mobile apps, and (maybe most importantly) “getting unstuck – where to go for help”.
All of us face technology demands that stretch our knowledge and resources. According to organizer Maggie Ardito” Tech DeLand offers a productive, convenient and fun way to keep in touch with specialists. When I founded a nonprofit seven years ago, I quickly discovered that, even with a tech/business background, the demands of the St Johns River-to-Sea Loop Alliance far exceeded my capabilities. A big challenge is always picking the right tools because even free tools come with a steep learning investment. I chose the wrong web development platform and now we’re paying the price of conversion. Access to a diverse and supportive team of experts could have avoided years of frustration, expense and time. That’s just one example of how everyone can benefit from Tech DeLand.”

People who remember Tech DeLand will be happy to know it’s back - more focused, information-rich and opportunity-filled than ever. If you have knowledge or intertest in tech, business, nonprofits or entrepreneurship please join the planning team.
There is no charge but advance registration is required and attendance is limited. The Abbey offers meeting space and excellent refreshment options.
