What we're about

Underrepresented groups in science and engineering included African Americans, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and Hispanics, who collectively formed 26% of the population, but accounted for only 10% of the science and engineering workers (Ref: https://www.usnews.com/news/stem-solutions/articles/2014/02/06/minorities-women-still-underrepresented-in-stem-fields-study-finds ). The more underrepresented young people who are comfortable with and passionate about STEM today, the more they will be able to thrive in the coming decades. Preparing underrepresented groups will create a more equitable workforce for the future.

Our organization
daytocode.org was founded by Emmanuel Bamba, who has been involved in promoting STEM education since graduating from college in Sofia, Bulgaria. He returned to his home country, Guinea, where he started working as a front-end web developer. Since then, Emmanuel has honed his passion to teach young adults in underprivileged communities.

Our meetups are generally held at public libraries, community centers and some sponsored events; we are looking for volunteers and collaborators to join our mission.
