Two special guests will join our next meetup (Note that we’ve updated the meetup’s name).
Inbal Lavi, CEO of Webpals Group, will share her professional know-how in a fireside chat.
Inbal has over 15 years of experience in the online industry. She is a thought leader who was named one of the top 10 influential women in Israeli Hi-Tech in 2018 by GeekTime.
We’ll also hear Lior Kodner, Managing Editor & Chief Digital Officer at Haaretz-TheMarker, discussing the publisher’s dilemma: paywalls vs. banners.
A paywall is a method of restricting access to content via a paid subscription, and many digital publishers have some sort of paywall strategy in place or are seriously considering creating one.
Some of the most popular paywall programs in the U.S. include those on the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post websites. In Israel, Haaretz-TheMarker has been running their own paywall subscription program for quite some time now.
The reality is, in a world where most of the digital advertising dollars are going to Facebook and Google, publishers don’t really have a choice. After all, for a digital media business, there are only two primary ways of monetization: subscriptions and advertising revenue. If advertising revenue is disappearing, then maybe all the publishers have left is the paywall?
There will be some food and drinks served.
The sessions will be held in Hebrew.
