------- Words of wisdom from Chris -------
So, let's talk about training. Why do we train? We train to stay fit, to meet new folks & to have fun (+ to look good.) When it comes to training, it is not about being strong or being fast, it is about one thing and this one thing will either make or break your training. It is about commitment - that's it, plain & simple. Over the years, I had picked up a few tricks to stay committed - set a goal, avoid injuries, get motivated & have fun doing it.
Well, that's how we approach for training: we pick a race (or two) for the year to train for; we train smartly to avoid injuries; we train together to stay motivated & we have fun doing it.
Goal Setting: pick a race Avoid Injuries: We run only on grass or soft dirt & we build our mileage slowly. It is not about speed; we focus on endurance & smart running. Speed will come. Stay Motivated: We have all slacked off from our work or training before. So, we train together & make each other accountable. Have Fun: What can I say, training with us is fun. ------- End of Words of wisdom from Chris -------
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your RSVP prior to the start of the event by changing your RSVP or notifying the organizer via email or text (to Toby please). Otherwise, non-attendance will be considered as no show & the Dinner for 8 "one strike you're out" policy will be strictly enforced (Toby note: okay, sometimes enforced, but don't be that "sometime").
Disclaimer: Toby is most definitely not a professional trainer. He is not certified nor licensed for anything (he is barely fit to drive). His knowledge of training comes solely from a big book (which he has barely read). Is Toby hosting running going to be a train wreck? The answer is somewhere between maybe and you betcha! Alas a career writing comedy is also not in his future so he'll just have to muddle through with running.
