September book club news

Hello Ladies,

FUN book club meet up last night! Great to see some old faces, while we enjoyed the outdoors and music for Wade Oval Wednesdays. If anyone that RSVP'd for this meet up and couldn't find us, I do apologize. I keep my phone by me the entire time and tried my best to keep my eyes peeled. The group had were 3 large blue blankets on the outer edge of the crowd but it was very busy.

With regards to 'Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk', we definitely laughed about David's crazy human-like animal encounters, but were torn with who liked it and who did not. I'd love to hear from more of you. Post your comments on the message board!

Before departing last night, we collectively choose our next book vs. picking a selection from a group attendee basket. 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' is a recent addition to our list and the book for September. However, I have some bad news.... I called Half Price Books to see if they have a copy I could buy to take on my backpacking trip. The guy told me they are getting calls for it everyday, because Mentor High has chosen it for a some class or another. That's bad for the club, unless we all want to buy it from B&N, Amazon or an electronic edition.

Since I'd like to be fair to all book club members, I would rather wait to read this until a later date. The availability at the local libraries is already terrible, so our meet up discussion could follow suit.

How does the 'Bridge of Sighs' by Richard Russo sound to everyone? Available everywhere and lots of good reviews.

Let me know ASAP. If you have another suggestion, please post it!

Thanks, Amanda

I'm don't mind changing the book selection to 'Bridge of Sighs'.
