We'll discuss The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, a fun-filled historical fiction adventure by Mackenzi Lee. No pressure to participate more than you want - feel free to sit back and listen if you prefer! You don't need to bring a copy of the book, but we do recommend reading it beforehand :)
What kind of discussions, you might ask? Hopefully fun ones! We can absolutely talk about the representation in the book and why it's important, and we can also decide what kind of pet the main antagonist should have, or what we'd do with the character's magical abilities, or what kind of board game the story could be adapted into. Or what a magical, board-game-designing pet would be named.
**We're meeting at Studio.89** (https://studio89.org/). From their website: Studio.89 is not your average cafe. To begin with, we are a non profit organization. We provide a free space for events, workshops and resources. We encourage arts, activism, empowerment, & conscious consumerism with a specific focus on youth leadership, employment, and volunteerism.
Please show the cafe our thanks for letting us use their space by purchasing at least a drink, if you're able! Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the cafe.
As this is a group focused on celebrating diversity, we want it to be a safe and welcoming environment. Respectful questions and discussions are welcome; bigotry and arguing are not tolerated. Please message the organiser if you have questions.
Hope to see you there!
