Joint meetup: CNCF, Docker, and friends

Details
• What we'll do
We are hosting a joint meetup with Cloud Native Ireland on April 10th. Mike Bright of Traefik who will talk about "Effective Ingress Traffic Management with Traefik":
Let’s look at how to effectively manage ingress traffic in your container-based infrastructure whether you’re using Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Apache Mesos or other orchestrators. The talk will look at how Traefik, a modern reverse-proxy and load-balancer can be used to deploy microservices with ease enabling dynamic configuration without service downtime.
John Doran from Phorest will be giving a talk called,
"Victims of our own success - how Docker helped us resolve platform system stability issues, streamline deployments and reduce hosting costs."
Description:
Phorest is a Dublin based SAAS company. It powers over 4,000 businesses in the hair and beauty industry in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Finland and USA. A couple of years back we started to face some serious scaling issues. As the platform had grown and we had on-boarded more and more customers, system response times began to suffer due to server exhaustion and database contention. Our hosting costs were rising much faster than our growth rate which was clearly unsustainable for the business. Things became very serious when we suffered outages as various components of the platform started falling over on a regular basis.
This talk covers how we moved our platform to Docker, the steps, challenges and process involved. How we utilised AWS, Jenkins and best practices to achieve resilience, stability and stabilise costs. We will cover how we ship code continuously and the benefits we see from moving to Docker over the last year.
