Alex Ellis – OpenFaaS & VMware
Serverless Beyond the Hype

OpenFaaS is Serverless Functions Made Simple for Docker and Kubernetes. With OpenFaaS you can package anything as a serverless function - from Node.js to Golang to C#, even binaries like ffmpeg or ImageMagick on Linux or Windows. Serverless Functions or (FaaS) was popularised by AWS Lambda, but being locked-into one provider has its limitations. Find out how this project offers portability and explore how functions can fit into your existing applications.

Jorge Salamero Sanz - Sysdig
Docker Continuous Security, looking inside your Docker containers at run-time

While there have been many improvements around securing containers, there is still a large gap in monitoring the behaviour of containers in production. Sysdig Falco is an open source behavioural activity monitor for containerized environments.
Sysdig Falco can detect and alert on anomalous behaviour at the application, file, system, and network level. In this session get a deep dive into Falco: How does behavioural security differ from existing security solutions like image scanning, seccomp, SELinux or AppArmor? What can Sysdig Falco detect? Building and customizing rules for your Docker and Kubernetes apps. Forensics analysis with Sysdig Inspect even when the container doesn't exist anymore!

Kai Davenport & Luke Marsden - Dotmesh
Bringing data into the circle of control - Data management is killing your velocity!

Data management issues cause tremendous pain throughout the software development life cycle and the increased adoption of Cloud Native computing practices is exacerbating the problem as applications change faster and employ multiple databases behind their microservices.
Version control and software testing allow you to control your code, immutable infrastructure allows you to tame your infrastructure, but data is largely still managed using a set of flaky and disparate tools and practices.
In this talk they will highlight areas where data is causing software teams to grind to a halt and will explain why. They will also introduce dotmesh, an open source tool that they’ve developed which they believe will address these issues.
