Docker's 3rd Birthday Celebration + Training!

Join us in celebrating Docker’s 3rd birthday, in partnership with General Assembly!

To warmly welcome newcomers into our Docker community, we will provide Docker training to show them how they can build, ship, and run a distributed application with ease thanks to the Docker platform.

The workshop is geared towards programmers who want to gain experience with Docker, whether you've never used it or have dabbled but, are still unsure of what you can do with it. Are you an advanced user? We strongly encourage Docker users of all skill levels to attend! 6:00 - Welcome message, presentation of Docker & snacks
6:30 - Training begins
6:30 to 8:00 - Learning Docker with Birthday App
8:00 to 9:00 - Begin working on hands-on labs
9:00 - Cake and Socializing

How To Prepare

Before you arrive, make sure to complete these steps to get your work environment ready. Do you part to prevent a bandwidth clog at the event:

1. Install Docker (https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation) in less than 5 minutes on the machine you’re bringing to the Docker Birthday #3 meetup.

2. Now pre-pull the docker images for the first part of the tutorial:

docker pull hello-world

docker pull busybox

docker pull seqvence/static-site

3. To run the application and participate in the rest of the training, pre-pull these images:

docker pull mhart/alpine-node

docker pull python:2.7-alpine

docker pull java:openjdk-8-jdk-alpine

docker pull redis:alpine

docker pull postgres:9.4

4. And now you're ready for the training! Don’t forget to bring your computer and we’ll see you at the birthday party!
