Workshop: Containerize all Your Things
Details
The September Docker meetup will be a hands-on introduction to containerizing all your things.
Agenda:
• Understanding your application in isolation.
• What's a Dockerfile and how is it built into to an image?
• Overview of Dockerfile Best Practices
• Practical: Create your own Dockerfile(s)
For the practical:
• bring an application or data you'd like to pack into a container
• we'll break-up into small groups and help each other build Dockerfiles
Pre-work:
-
Install Docker (https://www.docker.com/products/overview)
-
Please pre-pull base images and have large binaries on your local machine prior to the meet-up. If you're not sure what base image to use, please execute the following on your laptop to give yourself a wide variety of options:
docker pull alpine
docker pull ubuntu:16.04
docker pull centos:7.2.1511
Logistics:
We'll open the doors around 6 and presentations will start at 6:30. Pizza will be provided.
